Many veterans carry invisible wounds \u2014 emotional, psychological, and spiritual \u2014 that civilian life doesn\u2019t always understand. The transition can be difficult, and the burdens heavy. But healing is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Veterans may experience a range of challenges after service, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)<\/strong> \u2014 flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, or emotional numbness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Depression<\/strong> \u2014 persistent sadness, loss of interest, hopelessness, or isolation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anxiety<\/strong> \u2014 excessive worry, panic attacks, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anger and Irritability<\/strong> \u2014 sudden outbursts, difficulty controlling temper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Survivor\u2019s Guilt<\/strong> \u2014 questioning why one made it back while others didn\u2019t<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Substance Use<\/strong> \u2014 alcohol or drug use to self-medicate emotional pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Relationship Strain<\/strong> \u2014 difficulty reconnecting with family, feeling distant or misunderstood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identity and Purpose Confusion<\/strong> \u2014 struggling with a sense of self or meaning outside the military<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Suicidal Thoughts<\/strong> \u2014 feelings of hopelessness or being a burden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are not signs of weakness.
